承上约伯记 24:14 之难:下半节既说「夜间又作盗贼」,与 אוֹר 对举,似乎 אוֹר 是白昼。革玛拉驳回,把那一节解作比方:事情若像光一样明白——贼是存心取命而来的——他便是杀人的,屋主可以取他的命自保;事情若像夜一样不明,他在你眼中不过是个贼,便不可取他的命。所说的不是真的昼夜,是确与不确的两种光景。

那一处经的意思其实是:事情若像光一样明白,可知那贼是存心取命才闯进屋来的,他便是杀人的;屋主可以取那闯入者的命,救自己。
There, this is what the verse is saying: If the matter is as clear to you as light, that the thief has come into the house prepared to take a life, he is a murderer; and the owner of the house may save himself by taking the life of the intruder.

在那样的光景里,人防备破门而入的贼,必要时连杀了他也是许的。
In that case, one may protect himself from a thief who breaks into his house, even by killing the intruder if necessary.

事情若像夜一样叫你看不明白,他在你眼中就不过是个贼,算不得杀人的;那就不可取那贼的命来救自己。
And if the matter is as unclear to you as the night, he should be nothing more than a thief in your eyes and not a murderer; and therefore one may not save himself by taking the life of the thief.
